The waterways and surrounding forests provide ample opportunities for hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, golfing, biking, hiking, kayaking and more! Bicycle, kayak or canoe rentals during fair weather make enjoying these natural treasures simple.
Bedford County may be rural in nature but residents enjoy a surprisingly wide range of shops, restaurants, and attractions that form the heart of our downtowns. Exploring the streets of Bedford and Everett–our two largest towns–is a popular way to spend the day. Bedford, 75 miles southwest of State College, segued into a haven for healing thanks to its seven fabled medicinal springs. Bedford is home to the world-famous Bedford Springs Resort, whose luxurious facilities have attracted 10 presidents, as well as a quaint downtown boasting four grassy squares that play host to annual traditions: Holiday Open House with ice carvers and carolers; Hot Summer Nights concerts; art exhibits; Antiques on the Square, held every Memorial Day weekend, and the equally popular Fall Foliage Festival, which draws 70,000 visitors a year.
