Incline Village, NV
Incline Village Lake Tahoe is named for the Great Incline Tramway built by loggers in 1878. Today, Incline is home to some of Lake Tahoe’s most stunning mountain retreats. This eastern North Shore enclave features some of the areas most relaxing beaches and a genteel approach to Lake life. Incline Village is one of the largest towns in Lake Tahoe and is the main town for the lake that is located in Nevada. The Village is home to large mansions (some belonging to several famous people) as well as some great hotels and restaurants. Incline Village is also the closest town to the Lake Tahoe State Park and Sand Harbor, some of the prettiest places on the lake. This is where a lot of locals go to sunbathe on the rocks that dot the shoreline or jump around in azure pools of cold water. The state park also includes access to Sand Harbor and the boat launch near Sand Harbor.
In summer, theatergoers congregate to see the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at nearby Sand Harbor. Mountain bikers can get their game on with screamers down the Flume trail, which drains into the Village. Winter sees snow sliders trooping to Diamond Peak Ski Area (in the city limits) and Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Additionally, the casino gaming here is uptown and lively.
Some local favorites are located in Incline Village including Mofo's Pizza & Pasta, the Lone Eagle Grille which is located at the Hyatt and the very popular Bite restaurant which serves up great tapas and cocktails. The Lone Eagle has one of the best views on the lake. If you are in the mood for some great seafood, try the Wild Alaskan Fish Company restaurant and bar.
A lot of locals and visitors stay at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort in Incline Village for its great views, service and private beach. So a lot of the nightlife revolves around the Hyatt bars which includes Cutthroat's Saloon, the Lone Eagle Lounge Great Room and the Lakeside Beach Bar and Grill. While many people choose to rent a house or condominium for their stay in Incline, the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort is the largest hotel in the area and includes everything from a heated pool and private beach, half a dozen restaurants and bars, a kid's club, hiking trails and premium access to the lake.
Most of the shopping in Incline caters to the locals, but there are some beautiful shops to choose from. Even if you are not in the market for plants (but maybe some flowers) visit the High Sierra Gardens where just a walk through their nursery in the summer will make you want to move to Incline.
