Sparrow has grown to become the region's largest health system, and its diverse range of facilities offer residents some of the most advanced medical technology available in the world.

Sparrow has two Lansing campuses, Sparrow Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns, Sparrow Ionia Hospital in Ionia, and an affiliate hospital, Carson City Hospital. The health system has dozens of satellite care centers. Sparrow also offers the Michigan Athletic Club, a 276,000-square-foot facility voted one of the country's top health clubs.

Sparrow was the first health system in Michigan and one of the first five in the country to be selected to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network.  This collaboration provides Sparrow Physicians access to Mayo Clinic expertise and clinical resources in order for Patients to receive some of the most advanced care in the nation.

Carson City is a small city in which to live. Our residents take great pride in their homes and lawns. Most homes have flower gardens and/or ornamental trees to help beautify their neighborhood. Neighbors look after each other and offer a helping hand to each other whenever needed. Volunteers man the Community Food Bank with area churches taking turns each month to work there. Another group of volunteers organize the summer festival, Frontier Days, held the first weekend in June. A very active Lions Club helps with many volunteer activities.

Major employers in Carson City are The State of Michigan Corrections Facility, Sparrow Carson Health Network, Carson City-Crystal Area Schools, Harvey’s Milling and Ag Service, Laurels of Carson City, and McKinley Trucking. We also have several private contractors and retail stores that employ area residents.

Carson City is the home to three parks in which you may enjoy the great atmosphere of the outdoors. Each has a play area, picnic areas for small and large groups and great viewing opportunities. Two of the parks have picnic shelters that may be reserved for a $25.00 fee. All parks are closed from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am. Alcohol is not allowed in any of the parks. Carson City also has volunteer-run youth sports programs. They include baseball, softball, rocket football, cheerleading, boys and girls basketball, and wrestling. Youth soccer is also offered at area locations. There are also several golf courses just a short drive away.

Carson City-Crystal Schools is a preK-12 public education system. CCC employees about 60 certified staff who educate approximately 1150 students. In addition to a fine academic program, the school offers many athletic and academic teams and clubs for students’ after-school activities.

Fellowship Baptist Academy is a private-church sponsored school. It is affiliated with the First Baptist Church. FBA has approximately 10 staff members that educate approximately 85 students. In addition to a fine academic program, the school offers a limited number of athletic and academic teams and clubs for students’ after-school activities.
