Rural Health Services Consortium, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation, which was founded in June 1985. The mission of the Consortium is to provide affordable, quality healthcare to all who seek medical treatment in the Northeast Tennessee area.

The Consortium has grown to over 225 full-time and part-time employees with twelve centers in eight counties. Our medical staff includes a chief medical officer, 3 pharmacists, a dentist and dental hygienists, 2 behavioral health specialists, 40 medical providers, 90 clinical support staff members. The Consortium has grown to its current level in excess of 140,000 patient visits per year.

Rural Health Services Consortium, Inc. operates twelve primary healthcare medical centers and one behavioral health center in Northeast Tennessee. These medical centers are presently located in Baileyton, Bluff City, Bulls Gap, Dry Creek, Rogersville, Kingsport, Limestone, Mountain City, Roan Mountain, and Sneedville.

Rural Health Services Consortium, Inc. is founded on the belief that everyone should have access to affordable, quality health care. Through a system of primary care facilities, networked with specialty and inpatient care providers, we aspire to provide for complete and comprehensive care to our patients.The mission of the Consortium is to provide all who seek medical treatment in the Northeast Tennessee area. The centers are located in small, rural communities which provide services and counseling to a wide spectrum of patients.

Rural Health Services Consortium, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation established in June 1985 with administration and the first medical center being established in Hawkins County. Currently, we serve the eight rural counties of Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington in Northeast Tennessee. Over the past twenty five years has increased to more than 250 employees serving our eleven centers in the eight counties. Our medical staff includes two Chief Medical Officers, 16 M.D.’s, one pediatrician, two dentists, 15 FNP’s, five P.A.’s and one LCSW.

Through our scope of services we presently offer primary health care services, x-ray facilities, pharmacy, laboratory diagnostics, behavioral health services, school based clinical services and a youth strength and fitness program. The centers are located in small rural communities which provide services and counseling to a wide spectrum of patients. The Consortium has grown to its current level of seeing in excess of 130,000 patients per year.

As the organization expanded and became utilized by an ever increasing population, the demand for new state-of- the art facilities became necessary. Today, all of our centers are located in easily accessible locations in close proximity to specialists, hospitals and emergency services. The administration department is located in our largest facility located at 4966 Hwy. 11W in Rogersville, Tennessee.

Mountain City, TN

Johnson County is located in the extreme northeastern corner of Tennessee. It is shaped like an ancient arrowhead pointing in a northeastern direction. Virginia is to the north and North Carolina is to the east of Johnson County. Mountain City is the county seat. It is located in the center of the county in a large valley between the Iron and Stone Mountain Ranges. The Doe and Dry Run Ranges are to the southwest of Mountain City, and the Forge Mountain Range is to the northeast. You may reach Mountain City by taking Highways 421, 91, or 67. Mountain City is approximately 3 1/2 miles across at its extreme.

The land of Johnson County varies between flat valleys and steep mountains. The county has 249,600 acres or 273 square miles of land. The extreme dimension of Johnson County is 24 miles. The Watauga River is the dividing line from a short distance between Johnson and Cartier Counties in the south. The Watauga Lake is also a boundary line in the southern part of the county. The Iron Mountain divides Johnson and Carter Counties in the southwest. In the west Johnson County is divided from Sullivan County by the Holston Mountain Range. Virginia is to the north, The Forge Mountain Range divides Johnson County in the northeast. Stone Mountain is the boundary between Johnson County and North Carolina.

Sneedville, TN

Sneedville, Tennessee is located in Hancock County which is nestled in Central Appalachia and provides residents and visitors with a beautiful rural atmosphere year-round. Whether blooming with the promise of spring or set ablaze with the colors of fall, the mountains and ridges that make up our county are a sight to behold and are full of natural wonders to be discovered. The tranquil Clinch and Powell Rivers take winding courses through the county, creating lush valleys and plenty of opportunities for outdoor entertainment. With the recent opening of Interstate 26 across the North Carolina/Tennessee Mountains, travel to the coast and neighboring states has never been easier or more convenient.
