Asheboro, NC

The City of Asheboro, named an All-America City by the National Civic League, is conveniently located in the Heart of North Carolina approximately 70 miles from the capital Raleigh, and Charlotte. There are many reasons why Asheboro has become a great destination in recent years because there are so many things to do and enjoy for people of all ages! From seeing one of the largest private collections of Harley Davidson© motorcycles in the country at American Classic Motorcycle Museum to concerts, plays, and shows at the Historic Sunset Theatre.

Foodies of all sorts will enjoy many of the locally owned downtown restaurants. From delicious Southern food, including one of America’s top-rated fried chicken restaurants, Magnolia 23; to European-style café, The Table Farmhouse Bakery, where you can sit outside on a sunny day under an umbrella enjoying delicious, farm-to-table food. Bia’s Gourmet Hardware offers upscale dining, and there is always something on the menu that you won’t find anywhere else. Big and small kids alike will enjoy Mike’s Chicago Dog and More; and Central Bakery, a local institution for more than 70 years, is great for those with a sweet tooth. Other popular places include Positano Italian Restaurant, The Flying Pig Food & Spirits, Times Square Pizzeria, and Hop's Barbecue, serving locals for more than 60 years.

For craft beer lovers, Four Saints Brewing Company has great, locally brewed beer, or you can gather with your friends at Lumina Wine & Beer. Unique shops on downtown’s quaint Sunset Avenue include Randolph Arts Guild Gift Shop, Brightside Gallery, and an entire row of thrift and antique shops like Collector’s Antique Mall, featuring more than 30,000 square feet of antiques and collectibles. Bicentennial Park is a beautiful green space park situated in the center of downtown that showcases a variety of concerns and special events…all located along Sunset Avenue, recognized as a “Great Main Street," by the Great Places in North Carolina. And that’s just in downtown!

One of the largest attractions in the state is the world’s largest natural habitat zoo! The North Carolina Zoo delivers fun with family and friends, face-to-face animal encounters, enchanting outdoor art, glorious gardens, and is considered an international leader in wildlife conservation. You’ll find yourself surrounded by some of Africa’s giants including elephants, rhinos, and giraffes; share the love of gorillas with Mousaba and his six-member troop; welcome polar bear, Nikita, as he joins Anana in polar plunges at the Rocky Coast; or join in the fun at the Mud Café in KidZone. ZooFari offers guest up-close views of the 38-acre Watani Grasslands and the animals who reside there; and AirHike, a 23-obstacle ropes course, offers visitors a birds-eye view of the Zoo from the trees. Just minutes from the zoo, guests soar through the scenic foothills of the Uwharrie Mountains at Richland Creek ZipLine & Canopy Tour, a 14-station zip line with creek views that has over a mile-and-a-half of cable, and three sky bridges. The Uwharrie National Forest is popular with outdoor enthusiasts.

The Historic Pisgah Covered Bridge, located in the Uwharries, is one of only two remaining covered bridges in North Carolina and is a great spot for photography, picnics, and short nature walks. The nearby North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame is a fantastic place for military aviation history buffs. Baseball enthusiasts can enjoy summertime baseball with the Asheboro Copperheads at tradition-rich McCrary Park featuring the Coastal Plain League’s rising stars. Tot Hill Farm Golf Club, just off Hwy 49 near the aviation museum, is the only 4.5-star rated course in the Piedmont Triad and has been ranked the 7th Hardest Course in America by Golf Digest. Asheboro Country Club, located in the Caraway Mountains area west of Asheboro, is an 18-hole championship course that cuts through tall oaks and towering pines and features a spring-fed lake. Designed by the famed Donald Ross in 1935, Asheboro Municipal Golf Course is a popular public nine-hole course on 56 acres of property that features beautiful tree-lined greenways.

It's impossible to experience all that Asheboro has to offer in just one visit, and that’s why people are returning year after year, and season after season. Asheboro is served by three major airports, each within an hour’s drive - the closest of which is Piedmont Triad International in Greensboro; and five area hotels including Choice, IHG, Marriott, and Hilton rewards properties; and one inn, The Cottage in the Pines.

Geriatric Care Expertise

Physicians Eldercare is the premier provider of physician-related services to nursing homes and assisted living centers in North Carolina. Our team of geriatric specialists delivers a distinctive model of care that is focused solely on the primary care of residents at our clients’ facilities.

The Physicians Eldercare Model

A commitment to ongoing, personal communication is the foundation of the Physician Eldercare model. We work with each facility to develop a visitation schedule that reflects the specific needs and concerns of its residents. We then assign specific clinician teams to each facility to ensure a greater familiarity with residents’ chronic and acute health issues.

Better communication. More consistent care.

• Focused clinicians. Our physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses work only in the facilities we support, and not in a general clinic practice.
• Frequent, consistent care. Team members typically work in each facility multiple times each week, allowing them to respond promptly to the concerns of families and nursing staff.
• Improved communication. Regular on-site visits help ensure concerns are promptly addressed with nursing staff and residents’ families, lessening the time burden and frequency of phone calls.
• Chronic illness management. Familiarity with patient history helps us identify subtle changes in condition and closely monitor chronic illnesses.
• 24/7 triage service. Clinicians with special interest and training in geriatric care provide on-call assessment and treatment.
• Consultative support. Our medical directors consult with facilities on the implementation of policies and procedures within their buildings.
• Regulatory compliance. Our team knows the state and federal regulations that facilities must meet and works diligently to provide care that complies with those requirements.

Durham, NC

Whether you know of Durham as the "City of Medicine" or the "Bull City" it's easy to see why so many residents and businesses call Durham home. Located halfway between the Great Smoky Mountains and the beaches of the Atlantic, Durham is a community that is home to art and science museums, Duke and North Carolina Central universities, Durham Bulls Triple-A baseball, more than 40 annual festivals, over 300 restaurants, and world-class medical facilities. Durham is big enough to interest city lovers and small enough to give you small town charm. If you have a dream, there are people here who will actively help you make it happen. If you want to raise a family, build a career, or get back to nature (yes, plenty of that too), Durham can help. We have a diverse community from artists to scientists and from many cultures and races. It’s the funky cafes and the local music, the touring Broadway shows and the great farmers market, the cultural events and the wealth of talented people. Durham is known as Black Wall Street for its longstanding financial institutions led by African Americans. We embrace diversity thought and experience to build a stronger community. Durham has a unique combination of a growing economy, high quality of life, low cost of living, and a community that is physically active, mentally engaged, and completely welcoming. Maybe it’s the tradition of southern hospitality or maybe it’s the good weather, but the people here are just plain friendly!

Morehead City, NC

The Morehead City waterfront and downtown area go together hand in hand, in fact, with a number of marinas and docking spaces available for travelers who are arriving by boat. Several marinas, including the Morehead City Yacht Basin, the Portside Marina, and the Spooners Creek Marina, call this section of the Inner Banks home, and the town of Morehead City even has its own public docking facilities, newly completed, with deep water slips that are close to Arendell Street, one of the major streets that run along Morehead City in the heart of the downtown region. The mainland and waterfront boat slips are separated by a long boardwalk edging the water, which is ideal for a sunset or morning stroll. Visitors can work up an appetite as they admire the miles-wide views of the Bogue Sound and Money Island Bay, and can relax on strategically placed benches and wooden "deck swings" overlooking the scene. Other amenities include shaded gazebos and information kiosks that outline the history of the waterfront and indicate local points of interest.

Visitors to the waterfront will also be rewarded with a wide selection of galleries, boutiques, and acclaimed local restaurants, including the legendary Sanitary Fish Market and Restaurant, Jack's Waterfront Bar, Capt. Bill's Waterfront Restaurant and Mythos Waterfront Grill, an upscale Greek restaurant with local seafood specialties. As all of the names would suggest, these establishments, plus the half dozen or so additional eateries scattered throughout downtown, have phenomenal views of the open water and are perfect destinations for dinner with a sunset-over-the-water backdrop.

In addition to the restaurants, shopping, and boardwalks, visitors will find ample avenues for having fun on the open water along Morehead City's waterfront. A dive center is located adjacent to the docks, as well as several charter fishing boats and tour services. Essentially, from the waterfront, visitors can embark on any number of adventures, including half day charter fishing trips for inshore sound species, full day charter fishing adventures in the Gulf Stream, island-hopping excursions to neighboring Sugarloaf Island or one of the many other nearby beaches, or a scenic tour of the busy and beautiful Bogue Sound.
