Physicians Eldercare is the premier provider of physician-related services to nursing homes and assisted living centers in North Carolina. Our team of geriatric specialists delivers a distinctive model of care that is focused solely on the primary care of residents at our clients’ facilities.

The Physicians Eldercare Model

A commitment to ongoing, personal communication is the foundation of the Physician Eldercare model. We work with each facility to develop a visitation schedule that reflects the specific needs and concerns of its residents. We then assign specific clinician teams to each facility to ensure a greater familiarity with residents’ chronic and acute health issues.

Better communication. More consistent care.

• Focused clinicians. Our physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses work only in the facilities we support, and not in a general clinic practice.
• Frequent, consistent care. Team members typically work in each facility multiple times each week, allowing them to respond promptly to the concerns of families and nursing staff.
• Improved communication. Regular on-site visits help ensure concerns are promptly addressed with nursing staff and residents’ families, lessening the time burden and frequency of phone calls.
• Chronic illness management. Familiarity with patient history helps us identify subtle changes in condition and closely monitor chronic illnesses.
• 24/7 triage service. Clinicians with special interest and training in geriatric care provide on-call assessment and treatment.
• Consultative support. Our medical directors consult with facilities on the implementation of policies and procedures within their buildings.
• Regulatory compliance. Our team knows the state and federal regulations that facilities must meet and works diligently to provide care that complies with those requirements.

Morehead City, NC

The Morehead City waterfront and downtown area go together hand in hand, in fact, with a number of marinas and docking spaces available for travelers who are arriving by boat. Several marinas, including the Morehead City Yacht Basin, the Portside Marina, and the Spooners Creek Marina, call this section of the Inner Banks home, and the town of Morehead City even has its own public docking facilities, newly completed, with deep water slips that are close to Arendell Street, one of the major streets that run along Morehead City in the heart of the downtown region. The mainland and waterfront boat slips are separated by a long boardwalk edging the water, which is ideal for a sunset or morning stroll. Visitors can work up an appetite as they admire the miles-wide views of the Bogue Sound and Money Island Bay, and can relax on strategically placed benches and wooden "deck swings" overlooking the scene. Other amenities include shaded gazebos and information kiosks that outline the history of the waterfront and indicate local points of interest.

Visitors to the waterfront will also be rewarded with a wide selection of galleries, boutiques, and acclaimed local restaurants, including the legendary Sanitary Fish Market and Restaurant, Jack's Waterfront Bar, Capt. Bill's Waterfront Restaurant and Mythos Waterfront Grill, an upscale Greek restaurant with local seafood specialties. As all of the names would suggest, these establishments, plus the half dozen or so additional eateries scattered throughout downtown, have phenomenal views of the open water and are perfect destinations for dinner with a sunset-over-the-water backdrop.

In addition to the restaurants, shopping, and boardwalks, visitors will find ample avenues for having fun on the open water along Morehead City's waterfront. A dive center is located adjacent to the docks, as well as several charter fishing boats and tour services. Essentially, from the waterfront, visitors can embark on any number of adventures, including half day charter fishing trips for inshore sound species, full day charter fishing adventures in the Gulf Stream, island-hopping excursions to neighboring Sugarloaf Island or one of the many other nearby beaches, or a scenic tour of the busy and beautiful Bogue Sound.

Geriatric Care Expertise

Nags Head, NC

Nags Head, from its earliest beginnings in the 1800's, has predominately consisted of single-family cottages and a few small hotels and cottage courts. Residents of Nags Head can still enjoy the town's several historic cottages, which are primarily located across from the town's most significant landmark, Jockey's Ridge State Park. The tallest natural sand dune system in the eastern United States, the park offers unparalleled views of Nags Head from its heights.

Right across from Jockey's Ridge, on Highway 12 you'll see unpainted, cedar shake beach cottages that encompass the Historic District, and are classic examples of the original architecture that once dotted the Outer Banks. Many of today's new beach homes borrow from the old Nags Head Style. The town is home to a thriving art community as well, and Gallery Row is another recognized District at the north end of town that harbors treasures of canvas, wood carvings and so much more.

Plentiful public beach accesses and accompanied parking can be found along the Nags Head oceanfront. Two public fishing piers, the Nags Head Fishing Pier, and the Outer Banks Fishing Pier in South Nags Head provide sweeping access to the copious species of fish that make their home off our sandy coast. Incorporated in 1961, Nags Head has the longest municipal stretch of oceanfront at 11 miles, and with 6.5 square miles within its borders, the town is physically the largest on the Outer Banks.

Today, family operated businesses and a small town atmosphere prevail, contributing to a certain charm and a slow, relaxed pace of life. Incorporated in 1961, Nags Head takes pride in its clean water, low density of development, and abundant open spaces. Its 11 miles of oceanfront and 6.5 square-mile area are home to a year-round residential population of 2,800. The town is an annual vacation spot for a countless number of things to do, making it the ideal family beach in North Carolina.

You can take Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks excursions from our waterfront, kayak down Taylors Creek, or take a water taxi across Taylors Creek to swim and picnic on Carrot Island. You can also shop in specialty shops or eat in our great restaurants. You will then see why Look Magazine has designated Beaufort as the top undiscovered beach resort community. Our culture and heritage are important assets to be cherished. Our citizens are friendly and Town staff and employees provide good, efficient services at reasonable costs. So it is with pride that we welcome you and invite you to visit for a while or make this your home.
