Colorado Springs Health Partners has a long history of meeting the health care needs of residents in the Pikes Peak Region. Started by six physicians, The Colorado Springs Medical Center was formed at a single downtown location in Colorado Springs in 1946. The founding physicians were all World War II veterans and included a general surgeon, two internal medicine specialists, an obstetrics/gynecology specialist, a pediatrician, and an ophthalmologist. The practice grew to become CSHP through a 1995 merger with several local physician practices, and through a major acquisition as of January 1, 2015, is now a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners. CSHP was founded on and still holds to the philosophy that multi-specialty group practice offers the best means of providing quality medical care. The mission of Colorado Springs Health Partners is to provide a consumer oriented, multi-specialty health care delivery system while making a positive and caring contribution to the Colorado Springs community.
CSHP expansion has reflected the dynamic growth of the area. In Spring of 2014, we opened a second Urgent Care and Family Medicine office on the West side, and will expand those same services in the Spring of 2015 in Monument. In September 2010, we moved out of our original location on South Nevada and into the newly renovated medical offices at 1633 Medical Center Point. The previous year, we combined our North and Briargate offices into a new, state-of-the-art facility on Research Parkway. 2005 saw the opening of our East branch and 2001 the opening of our Southwest offices. Since its inception, CSHP has grown to more than 90 physicians, 20 mid-level practitioners, and over 600 support staff at 11 facilities.
From the very beginning, Colorado Springs Health Partners has been committed to advancing the medical field and giving back to the community. The Colorado Springs Medical Center was Instrumental in initiating the first health maintenance organization in El Paso County. Peak Health, Inc. through several mergers, eventually became part of PacifiCare. CSHP continues to contract with most insurance plans offered in the area and admits to both of the area’s acute care hospitals. Currently, CSHP contributes to several local events including American Heart Association and TESSA fundraisers, Race for the Cure, Care & Share drives, and others.
