The Electra Hospital District was created by the Texas Legislature in 1973 and opened in 1976. Electra Hospital District serves as the center for healthcare services in the Electra community. Electra Memorial Hospital offers comprehensive medical services including laboratory, radiology, rehabilitation, and cardiopulmonary services, as well as a 24-hour emergency department, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. The hospital renovated and expanded in 2012, and completed a Clinic and Emergency Department renovation and expansion in 2014. Electra Hospital District celebrated the Hospital’s 40th anniversary in 2016.
Electra Medical Clinic, established in 1988, is located within the hospital and offers general and family healthcare services, with a walk-in clinic available from 7 AM – 7 PM Monday through Saturday. Other services offered by the District include Electra Home Health, Electra Tri-Med Ambulance Service, Electra Medical Supply, Goldsmith’s Drug and Imagination Station Child Care Center. In 2014, the Hospital District expanded services to the Iowa Park community, opening the Iowa Park Clinic and Iowa Park Pharmacy.
The Medical Staff consists of 2 physicians and 7 nurse practitioners that care for their patients across the continuum of care. The Hospital employs a hospitalist nurse practitioner that accepts admissions from all providers as needed. Both the Clinic and Hospital draw patients from Electra, Vernon, Iowa Park, Burkburnett, Wichita Falls, and other surrounding communities.
The City of Electra, Texas is a rural community of approximately 3,000 bordering the legendary Waggoner Ranch and surrounded by farm and ranch land. It was founded on a rich history of ranching, farming, and oil production in 1907. Today, Electra is a small, proud community that still relies heavily on these industries. Officially the Pump Jack Capital of Texas, many residents still work in the surrounding oil fields. Electra is also a Texas Main Street City, has National Main Street Community Designation, and is a Preserve America Community.
Electra is situated 25 miles west of Wichita Falls on US 287, approximately equidistance between Amarillo, Oklahoma City, and the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Electra residents enjoy outstanding health care provided by Electra Memorial Hospital and its programs; good schools provided by Electra Independent School District; and City of Electra facilities including the Library, Senior Center, public swimming pool, and a nine-hole golf course operated by its members.
Electra offers a bevy of can’t-miss things to do, from attending special events, to getting involved in the arts and learning about local history; to dining at independent restaurants and staying active at area parks.
