Central Montana Community Health Center has been providing healthcare in central Montana since 2008. As a provider at the CMCHC you will have the opportunity to practice the full spectrum of Family Practice medicine. You can expect to see a wide variety of patients of all ages with a diverse set of medical issues on a daily basis. You will be joining an experienced medical staff consisting of a Family Practice Physician, Pediatrician, Nurse Practitioner, and a Behavioral Health Specialist. In this role, you will be expected to join the local hospital medical staff with inpatient and outpatient call coverage responsibilities and collaborate effectively with other local medical professionals to coordinate patient care. Where the Mountains meet the Plains - Lewistown, Montana embodies the great spirit of Montana's Big Sky. Lewistown is located in beautiful central Montana, the geographic center of the state and the county seat of Fergus County. Today, Lewistown boasts a population of approximately 6,000, one of the best school systems in the state, and a strong agricultural and business community.
Surrounded by five stunning mountain ranges, Lewistown is steeped in the history of the old west. The Snowy, Judith, Moccasin, Belts, and Highwood Mountains all boast magnificent views from which grand 100-mile vistas stretch out below. Picturesque landscapes, mountain terrain, and small quiet towns are typical of the area. The central Montana area is famous for its outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, fishing, big game hunting, canoeing, and mountain biking to name a few.
Located in the Big Snowy Mountains of central Montana, Crystal Lake, at an elevation of 5,700 feet, boasts spectacular scenery and lots of hiking, biking, walking and horseback riding trails. The variety of trails all lead to attractions such as Grandview Point, the Ice Caves, Crystal Cascades, or a nice easy loop around the lake. The beautiful US Forest Service campground hosts 23 large campsites, all with picnic tables, fire pits, and ample space between. A boat launch is available for all non-motorized boats - bring your tube, raft, canoe or kayak. Stocked each year with fish, the lake offers a wonderful family get-away.
The Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument became a part of the National Landscape and Conservation System in January 2001. This monument consists of 375,000 acres of public land in central Montana and straddles the Missouri River from Fort Benton to the Robinson Bridge on US Highway 191. Visitors can experience a myriad of outdoor adventures when they come to this portion of the “Big Sky” state. For those planning a trip that includes a water adventure, we have the Upper Missouri National Wild & Scenic River. Those interested in wildlife viewing opportunities won’t be disappointed. The entire wild & scenic river corridor is designated as a Watchable Wildlife area. The monument borders the west end of the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge northeast of Lewistown.
Lewistown is a busy place with a strong sense of community and plenty of activities to keep everyone involved and challenged. Aside from its traditional ‘western heritage’, musicians, craft persons and artists contribute to the variety of weekly events and happenings.
